Absorbable Material: PDO Threads

Polydioxanone is used for biomedical applications, particularly in cardiothoracic surgery because it is fully absorbed by hydrolysis within 4 to 6 months & doesn’t create any scar tissue. The foreign body stimulates collagen synthesis & the skin structure created will hold for another 12 to 15 months.

Unmatched quality: Our patented, US-made PDO threads are endorsed and highly recommended by Key Opinion Leaders and experts throughout the aesthetic field.

This is an anti-aging treatment that inserts surgical threads below the surface of the skin to lift sagging skin and stimulate collagen production.  PDO threads are also used to build collagen in areas of volume loss.  These threads dissolve on their own within 4-6 months and the collagen that has built will continue the result for 12-15 months.  More threads can be added when skin sagging reappears.  Nothing can’t stop the aging process, after all.

Your skin is cleaned and prepped.  Numbing medication is injected in the insertion points.  The insertion of the threads is minimally felt.  You can return to normal activities immediately with minimal, if any, bruising or discomfort.

This is most often used for the face and neck.  It is commonly used to life the cheeks, brows or jowls.

It is often used to build collagen in the cheeks, upper lips and marionette areas as well.

The right time is when you start to notice sagging.  They work best in the early stages and ongoing treatments will slow down future laxity.

They will not be visible, although you will be able to feel them when you touch the treatment area.  They will dissolve in 4-6 months, leaving new collagen behind.  You will have a few small wounds at the thread insertion sites after the procedure that will heal within a week.

Medical grade threads are used.  These materials have been used in suture materials for years with minimal issues.

Rare complications include: minor pain, swelling, rippling, dimpling, bruising, bleeding at the entry or exit sites, edema, asymmetry, dysesthesia, skin irregularities, and inflammatory reactions. Most are temporary and can be treated with an expected excellent outcome.

Schedule a consultation with our office to evaluate your skin for treatment.  There are many options and we can determine if you are a candidate with an in person visit.

You must be healthy.  Diabetes and autoimmune diseases may not allow optimal results.  Pregnant and nursing women cannot do this procedure due to possible unknown safety concerns.

You skin should be healthy.  This cannot be done in skin where there is skin irritation, inflammation or sunburn.  See our esthetician to optimize your skin health before the thread treatment.

You must have realistic expectations.  Our consultation strives to give you realistic expectations.  This treatment will help skin laxity and sagging, but it will not be the same results as a surgical facelift.  In addition, results are not permanent as the aging process will continue, but repeat treatments can be done to continue the lifting benefits.
