What does prp do?

PRP promotes hair growth, skin rejuvenation and reduction in scars. PRP- also known as Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a new treatment that uses your own growth factors from your platelets to stimulate repair and regeneration of tissues.   It is currently FDA approved for bone grafting.  In dermatology, PRP can be used for hair regrowth, facial rejuvenation and scar reduction.  PRP has been used for years to treat pain and injured tissue and joints.  Now, use your own body’s healing cells to stimulate your hair and skin.

DSC performs PRP with an FDA-cleared system for autologous use.  PRP is a therapeutic option that can be considered along with other modalities as based on peer-reviewed published scientific data.  There is promising data for hair loss and skin rejuvenation.

The Eclipse PRP FDA approved system requires a simple blood draw from your arm.  A centrifuge is used to separate the platelets into platelet rich plasma. This PRP has abundant natural growth factors that enhance the health and growth of cells.

Post treatment expectation. Initial redness will occur in the treatment area and can last anywhere from 2-4 days. Some patients heal in as little as 24 hours. Deeper treatments require more healing time.

Procedure time: Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy takes about 30-45 minutes depending on which areas are treated. We generally apply numbing cream prior to minimize any discomfort.  We recommend monthly treatments for 3 months, then a maintenance treatment every 3-6 months.
