ResultsWhat to Expect During Treatment
Because Vitalize Peel is a superficial peel, there is minimal recovery or downtime. Here's what to expect when you visit our office for treatment.

Before you go for your treatment session:

  • Avoid sun exposure for 1 week prior to the treatment.
  • Avoid electrolysis, waxing and depilatory creams one week prior to treatment.
  • Avoid Retin A, Renova, Differin or Tazorac for 2-3 days prior to the treatment.
  • Avoid products containing Retinol, alpha-hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, or benzyl peroxide 2-3 days prior to the peel.
  • Avoid any exfoliating product that may be drying or irritating.
  • Avoid shaving of the area to be peeled on the day of the peel.

The procedure: Your skin will be cleansed and prepped to protect the sensitive areas of the skin. The Peeling and Retinoid Acid Solutions are applied until the clinical endpoints are reached. You may experience some stinging or minor irritation and have a yellow hue to your skin for a few hours.

After the procedure:

  • Limit sun exposure for 1 week after treatment as your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. Use a zinc or titanium based sun block for optimal sun protection.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 2-3 days after the peel as sweat will irritate the treated skin.
  • Do not pick or rub your skin. Use a mild skin cleanser such as CeraVe, Cetaphil, Neutrogena or Dove.
  • Avoid wearing foundations after the treatment or during the days when the skin is peeling to minimize skin irritation
  • Do not pull off skin that is peeling. This may lead to scarring. Apply a light moisturizer, such as CeraVe lotion, Cetaphil lotion, Oil of Olay or Neutrogena to minimize the flaking.
  • Avoid other facial treatments for 1 week after your Vitalize Peel.
  • Restart Retin A, Renova, Differin or Tazorac, alpha hydroxy acid preparations, or bleaching creams after the peeling process is complete, in approximately 1 week.
