SkinTyte™ is a noninvasive treatment recommended for patients who wish to tighten and firm up their skin and desire moderate, noticeable skin improvement without having to undergo injections or surgery. There is virtually no down-time. The SkinTyte™ procedure is not a substitute for a face-lift and results may vary from patient to patient.

This revolutionary combination of BBL heating of subsurface collagen with surface cooling promotes contraction of the collagen without causing damage to surrounding tissues. Because collagen is partly responsible for skin elasticity, the contraction of the collagen leads to tighter skin. The heating process also stimulates the body's natural healing process, encouraging it to make more collagen, which also leads to a tightening of the skin.

The powerful and adjustable cooling system maintains the outer surface of the skin at cool temperatures before, during and after each pulse of broadband light making this treatment comfortable and safe.

The improvement in skin tone is significant, comparable to that achieved with the use of dermal fillers, but is neither as permanent nor as profound as that achieved by a facelift.

How Does Tissue Tightening Work Using SkinTyte™?
The SkinTyte™ procedure utilizes a broadband of light energy to deeply heat dermal collagen. This process promotes partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. The heat also initiates the body's natural healing process which creates new collagen leading to increased skin firmness.

Who are candidates for Sciton SkinTyte™? Is this a safe procedure?
SkinTyte™ treatments are safe for all skin types and appropriate for anyone desiring moderate, noticeable skin improvement without having to undergo injections or surgery. SkinTyte™ can be performed on any area of the body where an improvement in your skin firmness is desired. Popular areas include the face, neck, abdomen and arms.

Is it painful?
A chilled sapphire cooling plate provides adequate protection and comfort. This technology also uses an adjustable 3-stage cooling. It cools the skin, before, during, and after each light pulse, so you feel little discomfort during treatment while the surface of the skin is protected from the heat of the laser. Topical anesthetic is available, if desired.

Are there any possible side effects?
You may experience some mild redness in the treated area immediately after but this should return to normal within minutes.

Will there be any downtime?
Since the Sciton SkinTyte™ procedure is noninvasive; there is no downtime so you can resume regular activities immediately following treatment. You can also apply makeup and sunscreen after each session.

What areas can be treated?

SkinTyte™ treatments are safe for all skin types and can be performed on any area of the body where an improvement in your skin firmness is desired. What To Expect

What is the treatment like?
The SkinTyte™ light energy is delivered in a sequence of rapid, gentle pulses. Topical anesthetic is available, if desired. An adjustable chilled sapphire cooling plate provides adequate protection and comfort.

A series of pulses will be repeated over the treatment area to ensure best results. While the face and neck can typically be treated within 30-45 minutes, actual time will depend on the area treated.

What Should I Expect After Treatment?
You may experience some lingering warmth, tightness, or redness in the treated area, which normally fades within 24 hours of treatment. Because so much of the skin is unaffected by the light pulses, there is a quick healing process.  There may be minimal facial swelling the first day, but no break in the skin.

What results should I expect?
The SkinTyte™ procedure is not a substitute for a face-lift and results may vary from patient to patient. The majority of patients feel that their skin is tighter after just one treatment, but visible improvements in skin laxity generally take place over four to six months as the collagen foundation of your skin is rebuilt and strengthened. 

How many treatments will I need?
A series of 3-4 treatments spaced a month apart is optimal for most patients. Because of the novel mechanism of action, optimal results from dermal remodeling are seen over a four to six month period.  However, because each patient's skin is different, the treatment number can vary. Your physician will personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire, and may combine SkinTyte™ with other popular aesthetic procedures as needed and desired.

What are post-treatment instructions?
No special skincare regimen is required following treatment. However, you should always protect your skin from direct sun exposure and use a good sunscreen. Our esthetician can also recommend an at-home skin care regimen that will compliment your SkinTyte™ treatments.
